Artist Worlds builds upon the digital work of Steensen Primal Tourism (2016), which is set within a fictional Bora Bora that sets the stage for the virtual tour throughout the performance.

Crash landing, players and live Twitch viewers navigate between an abandoned airport, a flooded beach resort, a deserted workers town, an old colonial office, and an overgrown forest floor strewn with tsunami warning signs from a past future.

Viewers were able to comment and interact with the  performers/contributors throughout in real time, and each performer/contributor was based within a different geographical location across North America, Europe and the United Kingdom.

Along the way Steensen invites audiences to meet some of his close collaborators: academic Alenda Chang, artist Rindon Johnson and writer Mikkel Rosengaard, and experience live readings that speak to our ecological present, discuss creative world-building practices and the ‘reimagination of nature’ through technology.

Alenda Chang is Associate Professor in Film and Media Studies at University of California, Santa Barbara and the co-founder of Wireframe, a digital media studio fostering creative pedagogy, research, and design aligned with issues of social and environmental justice.
